![]() ![]() Eclipse Orchestrator does have an alternative method via a specially-wired GPS that can supply 1PPS signals, but I don't think it will be necessary to go that far in "timing complexity". I do not think you can get more accurate UTC in your computer with any other method in practice. ![]() You can do it easily with the utility nistime-32bit.exe. I guess it is good enough to synchronize your computer to a NTP Stratum-One Timeserver based in the US, such as the NIST Boulder Laboratories in Colorado, shortly before eclipse. If I program everything correctly all I need do is start the sequencing at the exactly correct time and pour myself a scotch. A shortwave radio with WWV time signals should do the trick. I will need to have a very accurate clock. I should be able to get ephemerides based upon the latitude and longitude of my site. Knowing the exact times of the four 'contacts' to high precision is absolutely vital. Hope you have clear skies, good luck in making it all work and above all enjoy the view!Įdited by HxPI, 07 September 2016 - 11:10 AM. I'll also have D3 and GoPro Hero 4 Black recording widefield views of the entire event. My current plan is to use ASI cameras on telescopes with Firecapture to capture a Ha and WL eclipse timelapse and D810 on 200mm lens to record the corona. I'm in the process of working out my imaging plan for the eclipse also. It's only for Mac though! It can be setup to control multiple DSLRs and will generate a list of shots to take that could be used to obtain the settings needed for each key event. I was going to recommend Solar Eclipse Maestro also. Steve (who learned these things the hard way). You don't want to have Windows start an update just before totality and you need to know that all of the batteries are going to last the distance. Also, do a full length dummy run and turn wifi off. Automate the camera so all you have to do is remove and replace the filter (the programs tell you when) and enjoy watching it. Then if you move location to avoid clouds, your script still works.Įven though it's been said before, it can't be over-emphasized. You write your script based on offsets from the eclipse contact times. I think you are making life difficult for yourselves by used BYEOS when there are eclipse specific programs like Eclipse Orchestrator, SETnC for the PC, Eclipse Maestro for the Mac or EclipseDroid if you want to use your phone.
